Topix.net Weblog: Some updates from the robots vs. humans front

Seeing Jason Calacanis and Nick Denton's success with Engdget and Gizmodo made us want one too, so we've launched a new Topix.net hierarchy for Gadgets.
It's okay but not great yet. But expect gradual improvements to our cool-detecting coverage & relevance over time. :-)
We've also begun an Education hierarchy, with sub sections covering standardized testing, school vouchers, and home schooling.
We've expanded our press release coverage. We're crawling all of the major press release outlets and running the releases through our categorizer. Examples are search engines, venture capital, and social software.
We've addressed some of Susan Mernit's concerns about our redesign, splitting up the huge number of articles on the news section pages across continuation pages.
